Packing Tip #1: Garment Bags

PACKING TIP #1: Garment Bags

A good rolling suitcase is better than a shoulder bag. Save your strength and energy for when you get to your destination. Keep your good clothes in the plastic bags from the dry cleaners. Keep them right on the hanger, including pants and put them right in the closet at your hotel or cruise ship. If its an extra fancy dress or shit, stuff the sleeves with acid-free tissue. Bundle each outfit by day into hanger groups and fold them into a Z shape. Always put shoes in a shoe bag, toe to heel so they don’t scuff.

At Eva’s Best Travel and Cruises, we customize travel for you at resorts, land tours, cruises, air+hotel packages and vacation home, villa and condo rentals. Costa Rica and Nicaragua – The RIU Palace and RIU Guanacaste

Your Costa Rica dream can become a reality, call me: Eva’s Best Travel and Cruises: 203-221-3171, 888-499-7245, egreenwald@cruiseplanners.com, http://www.EvasBestTravelAndCruises.com.

kauai fall

Day two of my glorious stay in Costa Rica and Nicaragua. We were being hosted by the wonderful, luxury RIU chain from Spain. What makes them a luxury chain is not the price tag, but the beautiful resorts, the delicious gourmet food, the excellent, friendly and attentive service, the fun and varied daily activities and the lively nightly entertainment. Both of these wonderful resorts cater to couples, families, multi-generation families and hold numerous weddings and other events, even sales meetings.

The RIU Palace Costa Rica is a new luxurious all inclusive resort that opened in November 2012 on Matapalo Beach near Tamarindo. It hwas 538 suites and junior suites, with 4 specialty restaurants – a steakhouse, Japanese, Italian and gourmet , 5 bars including a 24 hour Lounge Bar, spa and fitness center, 24 hour room service, free wifi, patisserie and ice cream parlor, fully stocked minibar, 5 conference rooms and the 4 swimming pools, with the largest and longest pool I have ever seen. It was a lot of fun taking aquacize class in the mornings. The instructors were young, sexy male dancers from the shows and boy did they have the moves.

It was very laid back and relaxing. Our suite was very large with fresh flowers and towels turned into swans every day. Very romantic! Breakfast was a very large buffet of everything imaginable for breakfast, including to-order omelets, Costa Rican cuisine, healthy juices and smoothies from the freshest fruit picked in Costa Rica. It is a short walk through the lush gardens with beautiful flowers and gorgeous butterflies to the black sand beach. Yes, black sand from the volcanes. Very different. Watersports were available through the Watersports shop located at the RIU Guanacaste right next door. Very convenient. They also have a water taxi to to Coco Beach, 20 minutes away.

Walked over the to RIU Guanacaste, where you have exchange privileges from the RIU Palace. It is also beautiful, lush, expansive, more fountains, gardens, pools. Had a cool water Jacuzzi built as an alcove in the side of the pool. Heavenly! While the RIU Palace has a very modern look, the RIU Guanacaste has a more traditional, Spanish colonial look and feel. It has 701 guestrooms, 5 bars including the swim up bar, 4 specialty restaurants and the main buffet restaurant and 5 conference rooms. As we walked around just exploring we naturally got hungry and thirsty and there was always something healthy, fresh and delectable.

From there we went a few steps outside the resort to a street filled with lovely shops, the casino, the disco and the large conference center. I am very susceptible to mosquito bites and am happy to report that there were lots of beautiful and colorful butterflies and birds but few mosquitoes!

Back to the RIU Palace and to the wonderful swim up bar. It’s a very friendly crowd and the caiparinhas were wonderful. A lot of Americans, Latin Americans and an lively international crowd. It was beautiful to watch sunset from the pool – it came at 6pm each night, at least 1 hour earlier than on the East Coast.

Showered, changed, went over to the gourmet Tucan restaurant for a wonderful 4 course meal. I love seafood and there were wonderful choices including cerviche, shrimp and lobster everything. The wine was freeflowing of course! The surroundings were beautiful and the service was wonderful. I’m in heaven!

After dinner it’s a few steps to the outdoor theatre with lovely Costa Rican singers and dancers. The costumes were very ornate – move over Dancing with the Stars. Thank goodness the theatre area has overhead fans – it is pretty warm outside. After the show there was live music for dancing, then a short stroll back to our resort for after dinner drinks and desserts. It was just a wonderful, full, relaxing day full of fun, great food, service and the natural beauty of the area and of the two resorts. Of course this is a working trip so I was happy for the free wifi back in my room as I continued working with my clients.

Call me for our wonderful deals at RIU properties and all all-inclusive resorts: 203-221-3171, 888-499-7245, egreenwald@cruiseplanners.com.

What’s New in Romance Travel: Honeymoons, Destination Wedding, Vow Renewal and Marriage Proposals

WHAT’S NEW IN ROMANCE TRAVEL!

As you begin to plan for your honeymoon or destination wedding, We thought we would share with you “What’s New in Romance Travel”:

1. Splurging on accomodations: New married are not getting entry-level rooms anymore; they are splurging on “love nest” suites that come with romance inspiring perks like private pools and outdoor showers. This will be the only time for a long time that you will be able to splurge.

2. Customizing your honeymoon/destination wedding:Resorts are giving you more choices, like Sandals, “Your Wedding Your Style”. You have a choice of decor and entertainment.

3. Bigger, better, longer destination wedding trips: New married are adding more perks like private catamaran trips and special brunches. The average destination wedding event has grown from just of couple of people to 40 guests and more of them are a week-long trip.

4. Exploring beyond the resort: Many honeymooners are booking alot of outside excursions in advance, so that they are not dissapointed that they are sold out.

5. I do again: The number of destination vow renewals and second marriages has increases, sometimes there are 20-30 people attending, including children and other relatives. The typical vow renewal is booked for the couple’s 5, 10 or 20 year anniversary.

6. Destination Proposals: More couples are popping the question in the Caribbean. Imagine a proposal in the beautiful Caribbean  with the proposal spelled out in flowers on the bed before arriving at the resort? Priceless.

Watch for upcoming emails on the following wonderful resorts for your romance travel, honeymoon or destination wedding: The All Inclusive Collection of Hard Rock resorts, AM Resorts, Barcelo Hotels and Resorts, Sandals and Beaches Resorts, Club Med, Couples Resorts, Iberostar Resorts, Karisma Hotels and Resorts, Melia Hotels International, Occidental Hotels and Resorts, Palace Resorts, Palladium Hotels and Resorts, Paradisus Resorts, Real Resorts, RIU Hotels and Resorts. If you want to learn more about something not on this list, call us or email us:
